It is first necessary to distinguish between the art that uses digital support as a simple tool to create more traditional objects - photography, print, sculpture or music - and the art that uses it as a medium in its own right.

Some historic information

Digital arts, which obey precise instructions, find their roots in the Dadaist movement of the 1920s, and more precisely in the works of Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray. The concepts are often inspired by science fiction novels.

Transition to digital art

The transition from the industrial age to the electronic age was accompanied by a growing interest of artists in the crossroads between art and technology which has developed with the arrival of new technologies.

Digital art is a revolution

Like every human activity, art is subject to this digital revolution and, in fact, must reconsider its way of being. It contains all the changes induced by the digital multiplication of sources, dematerialization of media etc.
